Day Nine

Long time no blog! School has been so hectic along with everything else I have been doing. Day nine's challenge is to blog about something that I am proud about in the last few days. I would have to say that I am very proud of myself for pushing myself to workout. I always dread it and that is why I haven't done it in a really long time, but I did really good this week. I have forgotten how amazing it feels!

Day Eight

A short term goal I have this month is to start reading more for myself. Since I have started my major, I have barely read any books, which is sad seeing as I am going to be an English teacher. I started the Hunger Games Trilogy and have remembered how much I love reading. So I am going to finish Catching Fire by the end of the month, and hopefully that will get me in the habit of reading for pleasure again. The picture above is fan art of Katniss, Peeta, and Gale that I found online. Go team Peeta :)

Day Seven

So I have fallen a little behind on this challenge. (I blame school.) Thanks to the snow day today, I finally have time to post day seven. Today's challenge is to post a picture of someone or something that has the biggest impact on me.

No, Thor has not had the biggest impact on me. The person who has is standing next to Norse god has.  Jared has helped me grow so much since we started dating my senior year. He makes me want to be a better person, and that is one of the many reasons that I love him. He encourages me to do well in school and to become a better person altogether. He always knows how to cheer me up and puts up with all the craziness that is me. I love him very much.

Another thing that has had a huge impact on my life is my church. I don't know where I would be if it wasn't for this. My religion is everything to me and it has definitely made me who I am today. I also love the girls that I get to help teach on Sundays and Wednesdays. They have become like family to me and I don't know what I would do without them.

Day 6

Day 6: My favorite Superhero and Why....

I would have to say that my new favorite superhero is definitely Iron Man. He the best for multiple reasons.

1. He is hot. That is an obvious reason, of course.

2. He doesn't have corny superpowers that are totally unrealistic. He relies on technology which I think is cool.

3. I love his personality. I have found I have a thing for narcissistic characters....such humor :)

Day Five

Day five: A picture of a place I have been.

In the past year, I have been to two different places that were really interesting.

The first place is Chicago for C2E2. This is a comic convention. ( I know I am a dork) It was so much fun. I went with Jared and a bunch of friends last spring for the Technology Club trip. There were all kinds of people dressed up. Many people were dressed up in Star Wars gear. One group of people actually was a choreographed light-saber group and one of the guys taught me some awesome moves :) There was also medieval costume shops, comic stands, and a Iron Man prop auction. It was a blast.

The second exciting place that I went last year was Mexico for my honeymoon. It was AWESOME. It was also my first time out of the country. We had a blast! We went snorkeling in an underground cave, zip-lining, swam in the ocean, and saw Mayan ruins. We can't wait to go back!

Day Four

Day Four: A habit I wish that I didn't have.
The habit that I hate the most is actually one that I only have to deal with for part of the year. That is that I bite my lips and rip the skin off in the winter, leaving my mouth tasting like blood constantly. It is really a horrible habit to have. It hurts and it makes my lips look horrible, but I can't stop. Every time I do it all I can think is that I am going to look like the Mouth of Sauron (pictured above). I smile and it hurts and then I start to bleed again. Not a fun process.

Day Three

Day three's challenge is to post a picture of me and my friends, so here a couple that I really like...

Kyle, Eric, Jared, and I at the midnight release of World of Warcraft.

Me and the guys the day of my "bachelorette party."

My favorite girls the day of my wedding.

Day Two

Today's challenge is quite simple. I was Googling Jane Austen quotes on Jane Austen's birthday (I'm a major dork, I know), and I came across a quote from Mansfield Park with the line "a quick succession of busy nothings" in it. I thought it sounded really nice and described kinda what my life may look like to the casual observer and sometimes to myself, so I chose it as my blog title. Since I am an English major, it had to be English related in some way.

Day One

Recent picture and 15 interesting (and really random) facts about me:

1. I hate feet. Bare feet are gross, but feet in socks are even worse.

2. I can't drink water from the bathroom sink because it is too close to the toilet.

3. I choke on my own spit regularly.

4. I watch way too much t.v. and sometimes my happiness seems to depend on the outcome of the shows I watch.

5. I have conversations with myself all the time.

6. I have a pet python named Monty.

7. My dream is to have an alpaca so I can talk to it and pet it.

8. I use to want to be a zoo keeper until I watched "When Good Animals Go Bad" and I saw a zoo keeper accidentally go up an elephant's butt.

9. I really love elephants despite this disturbing fact.

10. I have dreams where my brother dies all the time.

11. I like to take showers where the water is so hot it will melt your face off.

12. I have always wanted the library that the beast gives Bell in "The Beauty and the Beast."

13. I will never switch to digital books because I love the smell of a new book.

14. I pray any time I am about to get on a major roller coaster.

15. I start to sweat every time I have to drive beside a semi-truck.

Let's try this again

I will start this blog out with an honest confession: I am NOT good at keeping up with things like this. Another thing is that when I do fall behind for months and months at something I seem to think I need to "start over." Hence the reason I have so many journals that aren't even remotely full. If I do bad I go buy another one for a "fresh start." So here is my fresh start for my blog. Hopefully I won't feel the need for anymore fresh starts :)

The truth behind this first post is that my friend Kristin's 30 day blog challenge thingy is what got me motivated. This blog has been sitting here untouched since Christmas, probably feeling very lonely and neglected. But when I saw this 30 day challenge, I thought it was perfect! 30  days is a perfect length of time to start a habit, and this is definitely I habit I want.
